Description
The Georg-Friedrich-Händel Halle is the first newly built congress and concert hall after 1989. The new Handel Hall (Händel-Halle) seats 1,550 guests with an overall floor space of 4,300 square meters. Moreover, the Hall is only 5 minutes by walk from the Handel Statue on the market square. The internal dimensions of the Händel-Halle remind of the New Opera Frankfurt (Neue Frankfurter Oper), the balcony ascends arduously and enables even the last rows an astounding proximity to the stage. Through an elaborate acoustic system with numerous timber areas, the most satisfying sound characteristics are possible, even in the side bands. In fall 1998, four months before it's opening, the new music temple already appeared in the program of the Handel Festival. The Philharmonic State Orchestra gave an enthusiastically received concert on the building site, in front of a standing audience, under the special direction of Heribert Beissel. Since October 2000 the great concert organ by Johannes Klais from Bonn enriches the repertoire of the Georg-Friedrich-Händel Halle. The organ comprises 56 vocal registers, which are structured into great organ (15), upper organ (14), swell (13), pedal (14). The console is equipped with three keyboards and pedal as well as six couplers.
